Silver and Bronze in final provincial championship weekend
Valley teams missed out on the top prize but brought home silver and bronze from the Women's Over-30 event at the final weekend of Provincial Championships.
Somerset and Acadia Roofing both advanced to the crossover semis where they faced each other. Somerset emerged with a 2-1 victory putting them in the final while Acadia Roofing went to the bronze medal match.
In the gold medal game Somerset came out on the short end of a 3-0 result against perennial powers, the Gaels and settled for silver. Acadia Roofing met United in the bronze affair and after a 2-2 regulation draw went to the seven kickers before keeper LeeAnn North iced the victory.
In round robin play Somerset defeated Falmouth (4-1) and the Dynamos (5-3) before falling 6-1 to the Gaels.
Acadia Roofing started off with a 6-0 trimming of Porter's Lake before getting edged 2-1 by the Supersonics. They then rebounded to beat United 3-2 and advance to the semi-final round.
The Valley's third entry, Falmouth Fillies had a tough weekend losng to Somerset (4-1), Dynamos (3-2) and the Gaels (9-1)
