In U-14 Tier 2B action in New Glasgow, Bridgetown came out on top knocking off Yarmouth 2-1 in penalty kicks in the championship game. During round-robin play they had comfortably defeated North Nova (4-0), Storm (4-0) and North Inverness (5-1)
At the U-14 2B championships held in New Minas, Somerset Sweeney also used penalty kicks to get past Upper County 2-1 in their bronze medal game. Previous games saw them defeat Halifax County (5-2) and Dartmouth United (1-0) before drawing 0-0 with New Waterford. Also representing the Valley was West Hants Leighton. They opened the tournament with a loss to North Nova (4-2) then rebounded to beat Bedford (7-0) before finishing on the short end of a 1-0 final against Upper County.
At U-12 2B girls action in the South Shore, East Kings Veale finished 5th after sandwiching a 2-0 win over Strait Area between losses to Dartmouth United (4-0) and Upper County (2-0).
Kingston Greenwood was the VDSA rep at the U-12 2B boys event in Dartmouth. They lost their first two games to Storm (6-1) and North Nova (3-1) before ending their season with a 1-0 victory over New Waterford.
Congratulations to all the VDSA representatives for their efforts at the various provincial championships with a special kudos to Bridgetown for bringing home the district's first gold of the year.
The only championship left to occur will be the Ladies Over-30 event which will be hosted out of Kentville on Sept. 25-27.
